Tutor Qualifications

All of our tutors must meet minimum qualifications in order to work for our company. A tutor must have at least 60 hours of completed college credits or have passed a Paraprofessional exam to tutor with us. We highly encourage all potential tutors with Bachelors or Master’s degrees as well as certified teachers to apply to tutor our students.

Which schools will we serve?

All SES providers must wait until the parents at each school have chosen their provider before we will know which schools we will be serving. Parents will get an application as well as a provider list on the first day of school.

Job Description

Tutors for our company will work at eligible Title I elementary schools, tutoring eligible children in grades K – 5 in Reading/Language Arts or children in grades 2 – 5 in Math. The typical tutor work week will consist of working on two (2) weekdays for two (2) hours, following the final bell at the school. The days and exact hours vary, depending on the school.

Some tutors who are not currently working as a teacher at a school may have the opportunity to work four (4) days per week by choosing two schools to tutor at. The tutor may also be asked to pre-test students and to deliver Student Learning Plans to the student’s parents, for their signatures for which they will be paid.

Payroll

Tutors will be paid every two (2) weeks.

Lead Tutors

There will be one tutor at each school who is assigned as the Lead Tutor. The Lead Tutor will provide snacks (for which the company will reimburse them) for the students that we are tutoring at that school, immediately following the final bell. They will also perform other administrative duties as needed and will be responsible for overseeing our company’s program at their school. Lead tutors will receive extra compensation for their role with our company.

Fingerprinting/Background Checks

All tutors must pass a background check and be fingerprinted before they are allowed on school grounds or have any contact with students or their parents.

All teachers currently employed with the district, on current leave from the district or any persons currently approved to contract with the district will be exempt from any fingerprinting or background checks.
